The Boeing Company has been one of Virginia Mason’s most loyal supporters for more than 15 years. That support reflects the aviation leader’s commitment to nonprofit organizations that help their communities thrive. It’s a natural partnership of two organizations that are consistently on the forefront of innovative work in their respective fields.
“Boeing and Virginia Mason each operate with an eye toward the future — innovation is at the heart of what we do,” says Kevin Schemm, senior vice president of Business Operations & Performance, and chief financial officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “And we’re both committed to nurturing healthy, vibrant communities.”
“It’s tremendously gratifying to be part of this fantastic tournament, set on a beautiful, world-class golf course in this great place we call home.”
One of Boeing’s biggest contributions to Virginia Mason has come as the namesake sponsor of the Boeing Classic Golf Tournament. Every year, hundreds of Boeing employees and retirees volunteer to help the tournament run smoothly. Their efforts have enabled the Boeing Classic to raise more than $8 million for the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI), which is on a on a mission to cure autoimmune and immune system diseases.
“Boeing’s support, both financially and through their many team members who help make the tournament possible, has been invaluable in BRI’s progress,” says BRI President Jane Buckner, MD.
“It’s tremendously gratifying to be part of this fantastic tournament, set on a beautiful, world-class golf course in this great place we call home,” Schemm says. “We’ve sponsored the event for 13 years now and we are committed to our title sponsorship and partnership for many years to come.”
